They have a kind heart ❤️ the way they take care of the animals there is amazing!
I highly recommend this place. They make sure you qualify to give a good life to each of that creatures (dogs and cats)
I cannot say enough to explain how amazing this Shelter is!
Congratulations and God bless your hearts! ❤️❤️❤️
I adopted Dutch Axel there! 🐱😙😘❤️🫶🏼🙏🏻👑 he’s such a good cat I’m so blessed that I got him! We love him so much and his brothers do too! 😂❤️
My husband and I recently adopted a one year old pup that SRAS dubbed “Janice” who we re-named “Roxie”! We loved the experience with SRAS and love our dog so much. The staff truly care about each animal that comes through their doors. A colleague of ours was easily convinced to adopt two cats from SRAS because we couldn’t recommend the shelter enough! Five stars all the way.
A special thanks to Jessie and the staff at Somerset Regional Animal Shelter. Jessie was fantastic; caring, compassionate, and truly cares about making a difference. It has been just over a year since my family and I adopted Rocky and I cannot remember what life was before he joined us. Thanks again for your help and I appreciate what you do... Keep up the great work!
Both of my cats were adopted at this clean, well run, caring shelter. I would return for all future dogs or cats. Wonderful people work and volunteer here. Animals are loved and cared for. Top notch. Great place to donate to. Your money will always be used to help the animals.
This shelter is funded by the public- but that should only fuel why you adopt from here. I adopted my first, very loyal and hardworking, mouse-hunting cat (Shay, formerly named Lola by SRAS) from here in approximately May of 2008 when she was a stray kitten found in a trash bag with 5-6 of her other siblings. As of November 2023, she has retired to the good life of plentiful wet food and kitty treats- but I had an even more positive experience with this shelter in February of 2022.
I had experienced a huge personal loss, and was looking to adopt a dog to occupy the role a former pet had held in addition to keeping me busy. I responded to a post by this shelter on social media of a male German Shepherd (current name Dean, formerly named Koda from SRAS) who needed a home, after having previous breed experience, but was dissuaded by an individual to not seek the adoption further. The manager at SRAS called me back within 48 hours of the communication from the individual, explaining why he thought I should give the dog a second chance, and within 48 additional hours, that dog became my best friend, caretaker (as he can alert to medical emergencies), and forever companion. I cannot thank this shelter, and manager Brian, who facilitated this adoption, enough.
It has certainly not been easy- as my dog was formerly abused, it has been rough attempting to get him up to "normal" socialization standards. However, I do not regret my decision to adopt at all, and was fully educated, to my level of understanding, when I adopted my dog. Although, on a somewhat joking note, if SRAS could've give some warning that my dog had undergone police training and would always love the command "sniff" so much, I definitely would've appreciated it 😂
It is clean and odor free BUT! After adopting 3 different senior redtag dogs and a young cat from St Huberts I felt we were qualified to be good pet owners. Seems we are not. We live on property with chickens. Our cats have always been indoor/outdoor cats. Working farm partners would describe them best. They spend the night and days inside and go out if they want. We sleep with them and treat them like family. Seems I am a monster for doing that. When I told the woman what we were looking for we were disqualified from adoption. Seems all the cats that were long term to the shelter are better off in their view. The manager got involved and lots of whispers. I ended by saying "I don't want your cat" and walked out. Before you attack me settle down, I don't care for your view. I would expect a tax payer assisted organization would allow a proven (vet references) pet owner would be able to get a cat. The next day we picked up two young cats that are currently sleeping on my couch. When and IF they chose to go outside they will.
I’ve gotten 2 animals from this shelter and the staff are very friendly and get a great selection of available pets. Definitely recommend walking in and visiting the animals as it is very easy to come in and view
Very nice. They take very good care of the animals. I adopted Mr krabs April 2023.we love him so much. Please go an adopted.
